Genius Gluten Free Pains au Chocolat – Part 2

Last year I wrote a blog post about Genius Gluten Free Pains au Chocolat but they were about to be discontinued in order for Genius to launch some new products (the review can be found here).

Now almost a year later, and as I tuck into one for breakfast, I think it’s about time the recently relaunched Genius Gluten Free Pains au Chocolat are reviewed!

I was very impressed with this product the first time round, but I have to admit that this version is first class! 🙂

The product is described as ‘ready to bake, our light, flaky and very chocolaty Genius Pains au Chocolat are the ultimate gluten-free indulgence’ and that is certainly very true.

The pastry is indeed very flaky, just as you would expect from any Pain au Chocolat, and once heated in the oven for a mere 10 minutes, the chocolate filling just oozes out of the middle when you take a bite. Mmmmm……

Recent ones that I’ve had, including this morning’s(!), have been slightly different to the one shown above, as the chocolate is now encompassed in two separate parts of the pastry which means you’ll always get a bite of the very generous chocolate filling. What more could you want?!

They’re perhaps not the healthiest of breakfasts but if I fancied a breakfast treat I’d choose this every time! 🙂

I’m very pleased that Tesco’s monopoly of gluten free products is not as strong as it once was, as it means that these Pains au Chocolat are also available in Asda and Waitrose.
