Last month I reviewed a new website which offers luxury gluten free gifts – Really Truly Gluten Free (the review can be found here).
I’m delighted to now be able to write a review about one of the products for sale on their website, which I referred to in my previous post – the Chocolate Lover’s Treat hamper, which was very kindly sent to me for review.
The hamper includes the following products:
- Booja Booja, Hazelnut Crunch Truffles 104g
- Montezumas, Minted – Milk Chocolate with Crunchy Peppermint 100g
- Peace of Cake, Choc & Nut Biscotti 125g
- Montezumas, Creamy White Chocolate 100g
- Island Bakery Organics Against the Grain, Chocolate & Orange Cookies 150g
- Montezumas, Chocolate Coated Mixed Nuts 130g
- Clipper, Fairtrade Hot Chocolate 250g
The hamper came extremely well packaged and exactly as described – which is always a good starting point :).
Delivery was also very quick, as Really Truly Gluten Free use a courier for deliveries, on a 2 day service.
There was no doubt that this was going to be the first product that I tried from the hamper as I absolutely love mint chocolate, and this product certainly didn’t disappoint. My only wish is that there was more of it as it went too quickly! 😉
This product is described brilliantly on the packaging – ‘mint in milk chocolate demands something with real body and richness, so the Venezuelan high cocoa milk chocolate snuggles up closely to this minty yet crunchy little number’.
This chocolate bar is truly divine and I will, without doubt, be buying it again!
The same must be said for the white chocolate version from Montezumas which is also included in the hamper. White chocolate is also one of my favourite flavours and this doesn’t disappoint either.
This product also has a brilliant description on the packaging – ‘the sweet balance in white chocolate should be in favour of beautiful organic vanilla; which if you look closely can be seen in the chocolate. Yes, it’s sweet, but even if the white stuff isn’t normally your thing you may want to give this a go!’
The vanilla flavour does indeed shine through in the chocolate and although this isn’t my favourite out of the two chocolate bars, it is still amazing, which I think indicates just how good this brand is!
Another delight from Montezumas, this time in the form of chocolate coated nuts.
This product description is as follows – ‘In our house we think of this as our well earned adult treat after the small and very excited little people have eventually settled down to bed. This year we have delicious brazil nuts, cashews and walnuts; all covered in our award winning house blends of chocolate’.
This was a great treat to share with my boyfriend and I loved the thickness of the chocolate which enveloped the nuts. It was certainly quite a substantial layer of chocolate, which was great!
I have to say that I prefer the brazil nuts and cashews in this mixture, as I felt that the chocolate combined with them better than with the walnuts, but this is purely my personal taste. Rich really enjoyed all of them, and again this is a product that I would buy again!
Well done Montezumas and well done Really Truly Gluten Free for stocking such a great brand in your hampers :).
I can’t wait to try more of the Montezumas range, as well as their Christmas products, which also look great!

Wow – these cookies are amazing! I’d not heard of Against The Grain before trying this product, so here’s a bit more information about them:
Our name Against the Grain is not just a play on words, it’s about the whole philosophy of our company, doing what we believe in! Taking the natural approach, saying no to additives and believing that food should be fun for everyone!
The texture is not what you’d expect from a cookie and to me, that’s what makes these so good. Lots of cookies are quite dry and powdery, but instead these have more of a grainy texture, which I think comes from the coconut.
As well as being gluten free, these cookies are also free from: wheat, dairy, egg, hydrogenated fat, artificial preservatives, colours and flavours and added salt!

I’m not usually one for truffles, as I find them a little too strong, but these truffles from Booja Booja are immense!
The brand’s Original Truffle Range was launched in 1999 and since then they’ve received 57 awards, I think that shows just how good they are :).
Each box contains ‘9 multi award winning, melt in your mouth chocolate truffles. Hand made with sweet roasted hazelnuts’. As well as being gluten free, they are also dairy free, soya free and organic!
Everything about this product is exquisite, from the truffles to the packaging, all of which has been elegantly designed – well done Booja Booja!

I don’t even remember having biscotti in my pre coeliac days, so this was a real treat for me.
Peace of Cake London was founded by a coeliac, which as I’ve said numerous times before, always puts my mind at ease that the producer really does know what they’re talking about :).
These biscotti are perfectly crunchy and the chunks of nut running through them add to the chocolatey flavour to really complete the product.
Numerous other gluten free snacks are available from Peace of Cake London, so why not check out their website (http://peaceofcakelondon.co.uk).
The final product in my hamper is the Clipper Fairtrade Hot Chocolate. I was aware that Clipper produced tea, but not hot chocolate so I was intrigued as to how this would taste.
Described as ‘a rich and extravagant drinking chocolate, ideal for a spot of evening indulgence’, I would say that sums it up very well and it is certainly a very rich hot chocolate compared to the brands I usually drink.
Personally I would reduce the number of spoonfuls used to compensate for this and perhaps add a cheeky helping of whipped cream for good measure…. 🙂 On these cold winter nights, what more could you want?!

If you’re looking for the perfect gluten free gift this Christmas, you should head straight for Really Truly Gluten Free! Each item contained within the hamper I received was of a very high quality and I would definitely recommend this hamper to any fellow chocolate lovers!
This Chocolate Lover’s Treat hamper retails on the Really Truly Gluten Free website for £39.00, but a number of different priced options are available (both cheaper and more expensive), all tailored to individual tastes (ie Tea Break, Coffee Break, Sweet Treat, White Wine Treat, Premium Beers etc).

Although this product was sent to me free of charge, this has in no way influenced the opinions detailed in the above review.
