Pourtoi Artisan Chocolatier produces ‘award winning handmade cookies for serious chocoholics’ as well as brownies, blondies and mini cookies, all of which are dairy free, gluten free, lactose free, vegetarian and kosher – what more could you want?!
Here’s a little bit more about Pourtoi taken from their website:
All our products have been carefully and thoughtfully developed to cater for a variety of special diets – coeliac, dairy free/lactose intolerant, vegetarian and are also Kosher certified (KLBD – Mehadrin certified) and suitable for the Halal markets.
All our recipes are created in house using only the finest dark chocolate, sourced from around the world, together with the finest ingredients – our kitchens are a hub of design and creativity with fantastic tastes and wondrous delights in all our chocolate experiences.
I was fortunate enough to be sent some samples from Pourtoi of some of their cookies and cakes, receiving: Double Choc Brownie Bites, Cinnamon Pecan Blondie Bites, minis Double Choc Chip cookie, Orange Double Choc Chip large cookie and a plain Double Choc Chip large cookie.
The first product I tried was the orange cookie and as you can see from the label, this product is a 2010 double star Great Taste Gold winner, so I had high hopes for this product.
When you first open the plastic wrapper a strong smell of cocoa emanates from the cookie, which certainly gives an indication that the product will be very chocolatey!
The large cookies are very generously sized, so I didn’t feel so bad about sharing it with my boyfriend. The cookies have a crunchy outside with a lovely moist centre, which you can see from the photograph below.
This product is certainly a triumph and one of my favourites from the samples I received.
If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you will know that I am quite a fan of chocolate brownies, so the opportunity to try some more couldn’t be missed :).
My boyfriend really rated these brownies and I would say that they are definitely up there with some of the best gluten free brownies on the market :).
These have to be one of my favourite Pourtoi products from those sent to me.
I wasn’t initially sure about the flavour combination of cinnamon and pecan, but they are absolutely delicious and potentially one of the best gluten free cakes that I’ve tasted…..! 🙂
In addition, having chunks of pecan within the cake created an amazing texture, so it’s unsurprising that this product is also a double star Great Taste Gold winner, this time from 2012.
They have a crisp base and a moist centre which helps contribute to a lovely taste and texture and another great product.
Double Choc Chip large cookie
As expected, this final product was also amazing with the same review as the orange version, just without the orange ;).
These cookies come in a total of 8 flavours and I’m particularly keen to try the Double Choc Fruit and Nut and Raisin Double Choc Chip flavours as they sound great.
According to Pourtoi’s website they also produce chocolates, truffles and mendients which look great and they’ve also recently received new gold stars from the Great Taste Awards 2013 for their Almond & Cinnamon Cake as well as their Carrot Cake with Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting! All of these products reviewed are available to buy online with cookies costing £2 each and treat bags costing £3 each.
